Oakland, CA, May 25, 2012 –Oakland Digital (ODALC) is proud to announce their 2012-2013 Board of Directors. These distinguished men and women have heard the call to make a difference within Oakland and throughout its surrounding communities. Each board member has a passion and a commitment to assist Oakland Digital in accomplishing their mission of servicing the underserved communities.
“The diversity of our board reflects the rich-culture of our passionate community. Oakland Digital is blessed with a wonderful, dedicated team,” says Executive Director Shaun Tai.
The following are Oakland Digital’s 2012-2013 Board of Directors:
MARTIN KOJNOK (President): Martin has fifteen years of professional experience in marketing communications for top advertising and marketing agencies. He has an MBA in Sustainability from Presidio Graduate School and a BA in Modern Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz. As a strategically driven leader, Martin brings organization, planning, and focus to the table.
LINDA POENG (Vice President & Treasurer): In 7th grade, Linda raised $700 for her school over the course of one month by repackaging and selling candy. Since then, her good business sense has earned her a BS in Corporate Finance from San Francisco State University. Linda has had the fiduciary responsibility of overseeing accounting, budgeting, and finance issues for the organization. Her commitment to the organization is driven by her understanding of the need it addresses.
JAMES FONG (Secretary): James spent most of his career in business banking with Bank of America, where he retired as the Vice-President and Compliance Manager of the Northern California Commercial Loan Service Center. He is a University of California, Berkeley, graduate and obtained his MBA from the University of San Francisco. James is an avid proponent of Oakland Digital’s mission; he believes that continued education will help deter crime, reduce poverty, and improve Oakland’s economic vitality.
CATHY KUZIA: Cathy is an Award winning print production strategist with over twenty years of experience. She holds a BA in Fine Art from SUNY Oswego and an MA in Graphic Arts Management from NYU. Cathy has been involved with Oakland since the board of directors was first formed. Since then, her maturity and problem solving skills have proven an invaluable asset to the organization.
NORMAN WEEKES: Norman has twenty years of corporate sales experience; he possesses a background in business banking and commercial lending. His ability to understand corporate and small business perspectives provides a great advantage to Oakland Digital’s relations with those sectors. Norman majored in Psychology and Communications from the State University of New York Oswego.
RITA FORTE: Rita has a diverse background from managing a local, family-owned café in downtown Oakland; producing her own successful urban entertainment show on YouTube; spearheading a Warner Bros. Records’ online radio project; to being featured on Yahoo! Live as a DJ/On-Air Personality. Rita currently consults small businesses and musicians with strategic marketing and branding services.
VALERIE WIGGINS: Valerie brings a strong marketing and communications background from Golden Gate University and Howard University, respectively. She is skilled at conceptualizing and orchestrating public and community relations campaigns by utilizing both traditional and social media networks, and leveraging private and public partnerships. Valerie has extensive experience in working with major non-profit organizations where she provided grant/proposal writing and led fundraising campaigns.
